Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio est né en 1940 à Nice. Célèbre écrivain d'origines française et mauricienne (ses parents sont issus d'une famille bretonne émigrée à l'Île Maurice au XVIIIe siècle), il se considère de culture mauricienne et de langue française. Son premier roman, « Le Procès-verbal » est publié en 1963. Depuis, J. M. G. Le Clézio a écrit une quarantaine d'ouvrages de fiction et d'essais. En 2008 sa notoriété explose: Le Prix Nobel de Littérature, la plus haute distinction littéraire, lui est décerné pour l'ensemble de son œuvre.
