Yannick Nanette est originaire de Goodlands (dans le nord dans Maurice), mais est aujourd'hui basé à Lausanne. Il apprend la musique de manière autodidacte et s'initie aussi à la peinture grâce à son oncle Fabien Congo, artiste peintre. Mais c'est dans la musique que Yannick Nanette décide finalement de se spécialiser. Arrivé en Suisse en 2009, le bluesman y intègre différents groupes musicaux avant de créer en 2012 le duo The Two avec Thierry Jaccard, guitariste du groupe Brainless avec qui il a eu la chance de jouer dans un bar. Le duo ne se quitte plus et sillonne les festivals d'ici et d'ailleurs depuis quatre ans.
